MISSION OF THE MONTH—THE POWER COMPANY KIDS CLUB
“Empowering kids and building champions.” That’s the motto of Power Company Kids Club. For over 30 years, this local nonprofit ministry has shared God’s message of love and hope to inner-city families in Pontiac and Detroit.
The results? At-risk kids grow up drug free, graduate with honors, and get good jobs. Trained and equipped by the Power Company team, children from rough neighborhoods work hard, dream big, and become positive role models.
Since 1993, the Power Company has instilled faith, character and essential life skills in precious children who face crime, hunger, and negative peer pressure. Despite their daily challenges, kids involved in Power Company programs escape the cycle of poverty and achieve sustainable independence.
Here’s how: Every Saturday, hundreds of kids are picked up by Power Company buses to enjoy games, music, skits and a positive message—stay in school, off drugs, and close to God. Each child is also visited weekly in their home by team leaders for prayer, family counseling, and loving encouragement. Power Company also offers free after-school tutoring that focuses on reading, writing and math.
Other activities include Friday night programs for teens, food drives for families, and a Leadership Academy that mentors emerging urban leaders. Every December, they distribute thousands of toys and meals to needy residents.
If you believe every child has unlimited potential, please pray for the Power Company Kids Club. They’re right in our own backyard, and they’re committed to transforming lives through the power of Jesus Christ.
