Jesus does not call people because they are already worthy or spiritually impressive; He calls sinners by grace and transforms them through His mercy. The calling of Matthew reminds us that our identity is not defined by our failures or the opinions of others, but by Christ who says, “Follow Me,” forgives us, and makes us His own.
